Amanda Garcia

President
Ms. Garcia is the Executive Director of Cuddy and McCarthy law firm in Santa Fe and is also President of the New Mexico Association of Legal Administrators. She is passionate about the art of dance, loves dogs and animals, and is very active in the community. Ms. Garcia is a qualified Reiki practitioner and in 2020 was honored as an Albuquerque Business First Woman of Influence.

Dr. Rebecca Evanko

Executive Director, Secretary, Treasurer
Dr. Rebecca Evanko is the autistic co-founder and Executive Director of Wilderwood. A writer, educator, researcher, and horsewoman with a penchant for endurance riding, Dr. Evanko holds a research Ph.D in Cognitive Linguistics and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Rehabilitation and Disability. She is also an ASDI Certified Autism Professional. In 2022, she was honored to receive The Arc of New Mexico’s Bob Thomas Achievement Award as well as a USQ Alumnus of the Year award for her work with autistic women.

In 2025, Rebecca was awarded the Exemplary Research and Assessment Master’s Level Student Award from the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (ARCA), a branch of the American Counseling Association (ACA) for her work in developing the WRADIANCE Assessment Instrument and protocol. Rebecca also holds Arenas for Change (ARCH) Professional Certification, which acknowledges her specialized training and experience with horses and provides membership in the ARCH certified community of practice. She also serves on the Editorial Board of Neurodiversity, a peer-reviewed, academic journal published by Sage Publications.

Jayme Ogden

Board Member
Ms. Ogden is a realtor and is very active and involved in her community. She is a dog owner and animal lover. She has traveled the world with her husband and brings compassion, knowledge, and experience to Wilderwood. She is completing her studies to become an elementary school educator and with her husband Joe is the proud mother of two sons and a daughter.

Dr. Mark Evanko

Board Member, Program Advisor and Medical Director
Dr. Mark Evanko is the neurodivergent co-founder and Program Advisor/Medical Director of Wilderwood. A physician with over 35 years clinical experience, his approach to medicine is informed by a depth and breadth of expertise in both clinical practice and research, with a renowned ability to connect with people. A physician, researcher, inventor, and equestrian, he has an enduring love of horses and a deeply-felt desire to make the world a better place.

Heather Castillo

Board Member
Heather Castillo is a retired regulatory compliance officer in the oil and trucking industries, as well as a dressage rider, horse lover, and rescuer of dogs. She previously operated a horse therapy program for disadvantaged children many years ago, and firmly believes that horses hold the key to all sorts of therapy for humans.
